4-H is a community of young people across America who are learning Leadership, Citizenship and Life Skills..

There are over 7 million 4-Hers in the United States alone, making 4-H the largest out-of-school youth program. Everyone, ages eight through eighteen, can participate in the 4-H program. (Ages vary among states)

4-H is a part of the Cooperative Extension System, a non-profit program operated through each state's land grant university. The Extension System's staff operate 4-H offices throughout the counties of each state.

In 4-H, youth learn life skills they will benefit from forever. Most 4-H programs center around three areas, leadership, citizenship, and life skills.

Leadership

Citizenship

Life Skills

Through 4-H, you acquire incredible skills to become an effective leader. How to stand up in front of an audience and make a speech or presentation or how to conduct a meeting. And what about controlling the butterflies in your stomach? Yeah, we all have them, and learn to get over them. Best of all, 4-Hers learn these skills now, not later.
You can become a leader in your area through numerous programs 4-H offers.

In 4-H, citizenship is the opportunity to learn how we can make OUR world better. We learn that by helping others, we are actually helping ourselves. Yes, youth can change their world and make a difference! In 4-H, you learn how.

Visit the news for your state and discover how 4-Hers have made a difference in communities near you!

The project opportunities in 4-H are seemingly infinite, and you can always create a new one! 4-H members learn useful knowledge and skills in all areas, from photography, to sewing, to rocketry, to animal showmanship, to horticulture. 4-Hers learn how to work in a group, make new friends, and more, all while having lots of fun.
