Judging Resources & Practice sites:
Horse judging
consist of a team of 3 to 4 kids that judge 8 to 10
different classes of horses and than have to justify the reasons that
they
placed the class the way they did. It teaches the kids to evaluate
horses
and the "ideal" for each class. This is useful whether they only use
this
information to help them with their horses or go on to become a judge as
a
adult. It is also a great way to compete in the horse project that
doesn't
require a horse. Each contest is divided up into at least two age
groups: Juniors 8 - 13 as of August 31 and Seniors 14 - 18 as of August
31. If you are interested in horse judging the first
practice/information
meeting is scheduled for September 4th at the Extension office. The
juniors will practice at 6:00 and the seniors will practice at 7:00. We
have practice twice a month on the first and third Thursday of each
month.
Our kids have done really well and have fun traveling all over the state
of
Texas. If you have any questions on horse judging please call me at
(972)
938-9393 - home from 7 - 9:30 pm or (214) 695-7693 - cell. We hope to
see
you at practice.
